How to get there

Solid State Physics Department’s offices are at the second floor of the C1 and C2 buildings of the AGH campus (see map). The main building of the Faculty of Physics and Applied Computer Science is D10.

Plane A number of direct flight connections exists between Kraków and many cities in Europe (e.g.  Bristol, Brussels, Dublin, Edinburgh, Frankfurt, Helsinki, Liverpool, London, Madrid, Milan, Munich, Oslo, Paris, Prague, Rome, Stockholm, Vienna) and North America (Chicago, Newark). Look for the current flight schedule from/to Kraków Airport here: http://www.krakowairport.pl/…/Timetable. From the airport you can reach AGH University campus by shuttle buses number 208 (get off at the bus stop “CZARNOWIEJSKA”, timetable) or 292 (get off at the bus stop “AGH”, timetable). It takes about 40 minutes and costs approx. 4 złoty. Tickets are available at the Tourist Information counter in the Arrival Hall or directly from the bus driver. An alternative is to take a taxi directly from the Airport to AGH. It takes about 15-20 minutes and costs approximately 60 złoty. Yet another option is to take a shuttle train to the Main Railway Station (20 minutes ride, every 30 minutes). Tickets (12 złoty) are available at the Tourist Information counter in the Arrival Hall or from the train ticket-inspector. Train platform can be reached with the airport shuttle bus (leaving terminals every 15 minutes) or within 3 minutes walk.

Train Direct train connections exist between Kraków and a number of cities in Europe (e.g. Berlin, Hamburg, Kiev, Prague, Budapest, Wien). There is also frequent connection between Kraków and Warszawa (the capital of Poland). For the current train timetable, please click: http://rozklad-pkp.pl. From the Main Railway Station (east entrance: “DWORZEC GLOWNY WSCHOD”) you can reach AGH University campus by bus lines: 208, 501 (get off at the bus stop “CZARNOWIEJSKA”) or 192, 292 (get off at the bus stop “AGH”). If by chance you will find out at the west entrance (close to “GALERIA KRAKOWSKA” shopping mall), then use the bus line 179 (get off at the bus stop “AGH”)  or tram lines: 4, 8, 13, 14, 24 (get off at the tram stop “PLAC INWALIDOW” and walk through the park for 3 minutes).

Car From West: Drive along A4 motorway until you leave the toll barriers before Kraków. Take the direction “KRAKOW-POLNOC” and drive straight ahead (direction “CENTRUM”) until you reach a roundabout (with the “MAKRO” and “IKEA” markets on the opposite side). Turn right at the roundabout into “ARMII KRAJOWEJ” Street. Drive straight ahead along the main road. After about 2 km (300 m after passing “ETAP” hotel) turn right into “PIASTOWSKA” Street at the traffic lights. After about 200 m, at the next traffic lights, turn left into ‘REYMONTA” Street. Drive straight ahead about 1 km as far as the third passage in the two lane part of the street. The main entrance to the AGH University campus is situated on the left side. Stop at the visitor parking near the main gate (see map) and ask Janitors at the entrance gate to call the person you want to visit.
From South: After crossing the border between Slovakia and Poland follow the direction “KRAKOW”. When you reach Krakow, drive straight ahead until you reach a roundabout (with a BP fuel station on the right hand side before it). Turn left into “KONOPNICKIEJ” Street. Drive straight ahead, then through a short tunnel and the bridge over Vistula river (you can see the Wawel castle on the right hand side) with traffic light at the crossroad with “ZWIERZYNIECKA” Street (with the tram). About 600 m from the bridge, at the next traffic light, you cross “PILSUDSKI” Street. Keep driving straight ahead and pass the next traffic light (for pedestrians only). After about 100 m, at the next traffic light, turn left into “REYMONTA” Street. The main entrance to our University is situated on the right (after about 400 m, see map). Turn right into the University campus and ask Janitors at the entrance gate to call the person you want to visit.
