  • Developments of X-ray spectrometry and infrared spectroscopy methods in support to biomedical research, monitoring of environmental pollution, and characterization of various kinds of materials in terms of chemical composition and heterogeneity of element distribution.
  • Chemical analysis of human fluids and tissue in support to medical diagnosis.
  • Application of X-ray spectrometry and infrared spectroscopy techniques for the determination of spatial distribution of trace elements, characterization of their chemical properties, in human brain tissue in order to determine the role of specific elements and organic compounds in the development of neurodegenerative processes such as Parkinson disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
  • Outdoor and indoor air aerosols sampling and applications of X-ray fluorescence techniques for the determination of chemical composition of air particulate matter in support to research on source fingerprinting, source apportionment, aerosol transport, impact of air pollution on urban and rural areas – Environmental Research Group.
  • Application of X-ray fluorescence techniques for non-destructive characterization of works of art, archeological artifacts, and other valuable and unique samples from the cultural heritage area.
  • Construction of advanced instruments applying microscopic X-ray beams for investigating regions of accumulation of chemical elements in heterogeneous samples with high spatial resolution. Construction of simple, portable instruments for in situ screening and chemical composition analysis.
